CIRO may be clearing a path for OBSI full binding authority up to the current maximum limit by withdrawing access to their binding arbitration program under that limit:
"we propose to limit access to the Program for claims below the OBSI compensation maximum, which is currently $350,000. The Program lower limit would track future changes to the OBSI limit."

• The consultation aims to ensure the board considers financial service industry and consumer advocacy expertise.
• The public comment period closes on January 31, 2023.
• Stakeholders can participate through written submissions, an electronic survey, or a virtual roundtable event on January 19, 2023.
• All written responses and a summary of other comments will be published.
• OBSI expected to announce results and any changes to its governance structure later in 2023.

• Final reports are expected by late January 2022 (investment review) and late February 2022 (banking review).
