Director of Marketing à Four Eyes Financial
Alicia is a passionate strategic planner with a diverse background in consumer packaged goods, energy and now in financial tech. She has led award winning brand redesigns and built strategic plans that over doubled market share. She’s led entries into the U.S. market through strategic partnership with some of the top sports teams in the world such as the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Alicia attributes much of this success through leading with data driven insights and building effective teams. Alicia joined the financial tech industry in 2023 as Director of Marketing for Four Eyes Financial to help with their mission of changing the way compliance is done globally.

Within CIRO’s latest compliance report, they noted an improvement is required to dealers’
policies and procedures to provide further details on how they intend to comply vs. restating the
principle-based rules within Client Focused Reform (CFR). This includes KYC/KYP, suitability
determination and ultimately the rules and “show your work” processes.

This will be a meaningful discussion on this topic. If it’s important to CIRO,
then it’s important to dealers and advisors. Understanding the varying perspectives will help
direct firms on how to navigate CFR changes and obligations as well as some of the
complexities they carry.

Key areas of discussion will be prompted:
1. Common challenges firms are experiencing today in meeting CFR obligations
2. How to efficiently achieve and show reasonable range of alternatives within KYC/KYP &
who’s responsibility is it (advisor vs. firm)
3. Architecting P&P to achieve the intention of improving the client’s outcome while
managing the additional resources and steps to do so

Tania Tomilko; AVP Business Governance & Control, Sun Life

My name is Tania Tomilko and I am the AVP of Governance, Operations and Transformation at Sun Life Canada. I have led transformation wealth programs at RBC, TD and now at Sun Life. These include a new active trader platform, digitization of client advice, and the operationalization of regulatory change. Most recently I have been part of the new investment dealer launch at Sun Life, Sun Life Canada Securities Inc, where I was responsible for standing up the Supervisory and Registration & Licensing functions. I consider myself a business strategist (not a compliance person) and my passion is to ensure that humans are at the centre of our business decisions, including clients, advisors and employees. Because of my human-first focus, I enjoy talent development and mentorship.

Outside of work I am a mom to three grown-ish children, a Samoyed and a Siberian-forest cat. I am an avid reader who also loves crafts and nature. For fun I sign myself up for active women’s retreats, including yoga, surfing and hiking. In June I will be going to Africa with one of these groups for Chimp and Gorilla treks, and I have signed myself up to go to Everest Base Camp in October to celebrate my 25th anniversary with my husband.
